Overcoming Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS) to Conceive Our Son - Woman Magazine Health Special Article! - The Womb Wise Woman

I’m Hayley, The Womb Wise Woman. I’m a coach and natural health practitioner, specialising in hormone and fertility health.

The Woman Magazine article talks about how I overcame my own menstrual and hormonal issues, including treatment for abnormal cervical cells, thyroid imbalance, post-pill polycystic ovaries and absent periods. Despite thinking for a long time it would never happen, I’m now the proud mummy of a 16 month little boy.

I always thought that coming off the pill, my periods stopping and being told I had polycystic ovaries was the start of the story, yet I now realise it went much further back.

I was driving up the motorway on the way to work when the thought came into my mind…if I just crashed the car, I wouldn’t have to go in.

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to live, I just couldn’t go on the way I was feeling.

Approaching 10 years as a qualified nurse, the constant pressure I put on myself to be perfect and eventually the hundreds of miles commuting and corporate demands in private healthcare.

On the face of it I had everything I SHOULD have wanted, yet I felt so empty and worthless. I wrote in my journal that night, asking the Universe to catch me, I had to let go…

My hormones had taken a hit due to stress and in 2013 I’d been diagnosed with hyperthyroid, feeling constantly stressed, anxious and couldn’t sleep. Feeding my emptiness chocolate, puddings and takeaways, propping up my energy with coffee and surviving each week by thinking of the weekend. Then feeling too drained to want to do anything.

My body was in turmoil, sugar crashes, hot flushes, every fibre of my being screaming at me that something had to give. Eventually it did, in 2017 my periods stopped, I was told I had polycystic ovaries and my life course changed forever.

The realisation hit me of how disconnected I’d become from my body. I’d been pushing down my innate compassionate nature to survive the tough situations I found myself at work. Striving and overriding my body’s natural cycles taking painkillers for headaches, aching joints and period pain.

Does this sound familiar?

I want you to know that it’s OK to want something more. To realise that perhaps things are out of alignment and your current lifestyle is working against your body. It’s OK if you feel hormonal, stressed, frazzled and like every day’s a struggle. It’s OK that you don’t know where to start, you just know something has to change.

Since leaving the corporate world in 2018, my purpose and passion is guiding you to transform from hormonal mess, to hormone happiness. Empowering you to release overwhelm, manage stress and balance your hormones in a way that nourishes your mind, body and soul.

Together we can change your mindset from undeserving of rest, nurturing and self-care, to putting yourself first, creating the life and vibrant health you desire. You CAN have it all and I’m here to help you every step of the way, to lift you up on the tough days and celebrate with you when you smash your goals.

Where are you on your journey?

Sharing our story is so important. It was hearing someone else’s story with a very similar health history to me, that enabled me to have a light bulb moment and change my mindset around conceiving.

I’d been so sure since having a procedure in my early 20’s that I’d struggle, it had subconsciously really become my internal dialogue.

It’s why I’m so passionate about speaking out and sharing about the power of natural health and mindset techniques.I’m Hayley, I’m a coach and natural health practitioner, specialising in hormone and fertility health.
